How to Fix Google Home or Mini Won’t Play Spotify Music
Solutions #1: Unlink and Relink Spotify with your Google Home or Home Mini
After trying a couple of different Google Home voice commands, if your intelligent speaker is still not playing any single track from Spotify then try to unlink your Spotify account first and then again relink it. Here’s how to do it:
Step #1. Open Google Home app on your smartphone.
Step #2. Tap on the device button at the top right corner of the screen and then tap on the menu button at the upper right corner of the app.
Step #3. Tap on Settings → Music → Spotify.
Step #4. Now tap in “Unlink”.
Step #5. Once your Spotify account unlinked, follow these steps again to relink.
Solutions #2: Reboot Google Home or Mini
Reboot is one of the most straightforward and better solutions to fix various issues on any device. According to Spotify, the rebooting Google Home and Mini worked for many users to fix the Spotify not playing on Google Home or Mini problem. So, we suggest you try to reboot your Google smart speaker.
Well, you can either reboot your smart speaker from Google Home app or unplug your smart device. To reboot from the app, open the Google Home app → Devices → Settings → More → Reboot. Or, unplug your device from a power source for 1 minutes and then plug the power back.
Solution #3: Unlink and relink your Google Account

Step #1. First of all, make sure that your smart speaker and smartphone connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Step #2. Open Google Home app and tap on Devices at the top right corner.
Step #3. Scroll to locate device card for your speaker and tap the device card menu.
Step #4. Tap settings and then Linked account(s) and then X next to the Google Account.
Step #5. Now tap Unlink to remove your Google account.
Step #6. Once your Google Account removed, just go through the same procedure to add it again and enjoy Spotify without any pause.
Solution #4: Check Spotify app version and account
Sometimes Google Home or Mini stop playing Spotify if you have installed the older version of the app on your casting device. And also, Google Home won’t play Spotify if you don’t have a premium account. Hence, if you are encountering with Spotify playlist and Google Home issue, then you make sure that you are running the latest version of Spotify app with the premium account.
Solution #5: Try to use different voice commands
As Google Home and Mini both smart enough to get work done smartly with your commands, you will also need to give specific commands sometimes. For instance, when you say “ok Google Play Playlist XYZ”, it will play the exact playlist as per your wish. But, when you say “ok google play XYZ,” it will play a random track or reply “Sorry, something went wrong” sometimes. So, you will need to be specified in certain cases.
