Siri Not Working on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus? Possible Solution to Fix The Problem
Do you have proper internet Connection?
Siri requires active internet connection to work at its best. Hence, make sure you have proper internet connection on your iOS device.
Turn On/off Wi-Fi/Cellular
The first trick that you can try is turn off Wi-Fi/Cellular (Settings → Wi-Fi), reboot your device, turn on Wi-Fi/Cellular and then try to use Siri again.
(Simply press and hold the power button and home button at once about ten seconds to reboot your iOS device. To reboot your iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, you need to press and hold the power button and volume down button at once. )
Forget the Wi-Fi Network and Connect to the Network Again
If Wi-Fi is not working properly, then forget the network and connect it again.
Go to Settings → Wi-Fi → Tap on the network connection → Forget This Network → Tap on Forget in the popup. Now, restart your device and connect to the network again.
Use Different Wi-Fi Network
If there is another Wi-Fi network available, try to use it.
Is Microphone Working Properly?
Make sure to check out if microphone is working properly or not. Simply open any app, bring up the keyboard and try to use Siri dictation. If there is no movement in the voice waveform, then the microphone wouldn’t be working properly.
Remove the case as it may be covering the microphone. Also, blow at the microphone to clean up the dust particles.
Reset Network Settings
If none of the above-mentioned tricks have fixed the internet connection issue, reset the network to the factory settings on your device. It will delete all network settings.
Open Settings → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Does Your iOS Device Support Untethered Hey Siri?
Only the latest iOS devices such as iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 7, 7 Plus and iPad Pro support Untethered Hey Siri. If you are using unsupported iOS devices such as iPhone 5, 6 or 6 Plus, make sure to plug your device into a power source to use Hey Siri.
Hey Siri demands high battery power to run perfectly. The latest iOS devices are equipped to work with it smoothly without any battery drain.
While setting up Hey Siri, you are asked to say “Hey Siri” a few times to help the virtual assistant recognize your voice. If it has stopped recognizing your voice, recalibrating it can fix the issue.
Open Settings → Siri → Now turn off both Siri and Hey Siri. Then, reboot your device and turn on Siri and Hey Siri again. When you turn on Hey Siri again, you will have to set it up again. Tap on the Set Up Now button and go through the steps to recalibrate it.
Update Your iOS Device
If there is the update available, make sure to update your iPhone to the latest version. Go to Settings → General → Software Update.
Restore Your iPhone
If none of the above-mentioned tricks have clicked in resolving this issue and there is no software update available for your iOS device, then restore your iPhone. Make sure to back up your device before restoring it. Connect your iPhone to Mac or Windows PC, launch iTunes, select the device and click on the restore button.
Even after restoring or updating your device hasn’t fixed the problem, then you need to contact Apple Support for help.
