Samsung Pay had a successful run on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, but with S9 and S9 Plus, users have begun to complain about the app. Samsung has already started to ship pre-orders, and this means, there are quite a few devices on the market as people are using this smartphone. And the bad news is that Samsung Pay is not working on Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

This is frustrating for users, who have already set up their credit/debit cards on the latest devices. They might feel embarrassed at the payment desk in shopping malls when they come to know that they cannot use Samsung Pay on their Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus phones. Note that the issue is just limited to the US.

So what is the issue? Why doesn’t Samsung Pay work in Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus?

It is observed that phones, which are unlocked do not support Samsung Pay.

Another issue is that Samsung Pay app listed on Google Play Store is not compatible with Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus.

Worse is the stock app says there is an update but doesn’t actually install it even after trying for several times.

Official statement from Samsung confirms that some models “are experiencing issues with Samsung Pay”, and an update to resolve the issue is going to be released soon.

How to Fix Samsung Pay Not Working on Galaxy S9 & S9 Plus

Samsung has released an update to fix the bug; this new patch of the app is now available on Galaxy App store. Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus users need to open Galaxy App store and tap on the patch button.

Restart your phone

A technological issue can be resolved by weird solutions as well. A simple restart may sound out-of-the-box thing, but sometimes this works. Take your Galaxy S9 in your hands and press and hold the power button for a few seconds; when the options appear on the screen, tap on Power Off option and then tap on OK. Your phone is shut down and then power on the device by pressing the Power button.

Reset Samsung Pay

Probably, you need to reset your Samsung Pay app. For this purpose, you need to follow a few simple steps.

Step #1. Launch Samsung Pay app on your Galaxy S9/S9 Plus.

Step #2. Tap on Sign In from the upper right corner.

Step #3. Now tap on ‘Forgot Password’ option.

Step #4. You will be prompted to type your email Id you have entered while created the account.

Step #5. After typing your email, enter the security code.

On your email, you will get a new password.

Remove your card and add a new card

Step #1. Open Samsung Pay app on your smartphone.

Step #2. Now tap the Credit/Debit card option.

Step #3. Choose the card you wish to remove from the app.

Step #4. Next, tap ‘More option’ and choose Delete Card.

Step #5. Then verify the Samsung PIN, and your card is removed.

To add a new card, you need to follow the same method as given below.

While performing solutions, you can also take a chance with resetting Samsung Pay PIN. In case, you have added PayPal account to your Samsung Pay, try to disconnect this account and then use Samsung Pay.
