Solution #1: Make sure Now Playing is Enabled

If you have Words With Friends 2 game installed on your Google phone and try to use the Now Playing feature to recognize the song name and artist, then Now Playing will suddenly stop working on your Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Solution #3: Turn off/on Now Playing and restart your phone

One Reddit user suggested that turning Now Playing off/on and restarting the phone will fix the issue and will work consistently great to recognize all song. Here are few steps you should follow:

Step #1. Go to Settings → Sound → Advance → Turn off Now Playing in settings.

Step #2. Next, turn off your phone.

Step #3. Wait 30 seconds and turn on your phone.

Step #4. Now turn Now Playing on from the settings.

Step #5. Now restart the phone and see the magic.

Solution #4: Turn off “Also show notifications” option.

Some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners running the latest Android 8.1 update suggested that the Now Playing will work fine once you turn off the “Also Show Notification” option from your Google phone. To turn it off, go to Setting Sound → Advance → Now Playing → turn the toggle of on Also Show Notification option. Now try to use the Now Playing and see how it is working.

Well, there is another reason that you haven’t find the song in the Now Playing because it is not listed on the list of Google Pixel Ambient Display song list. Currently, there are 17,300 popular songs are listed in the list. So, it is possible that you won’t find the song on the list.
