iOS 10.3 beta 1 has brought a new feature called ‘Find My iPhone’ app. This app helps you to find your lost AirPods from your iPhone or iPad, probably the same way to find an even a dead iPhone. This app works in two different ways, one way is to find your AirPods is by location and the other way is by playing a high pitch sound. So, if from now on if your AirPods are hiding below the cushion or under a drawer you can easily find them.

Find My iPhone app will show you the place where your AirPods are situated currently. You can find them whether they are connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth or not. If your AirPods are not connected with your iPhone via a Bluetooth connection then too you don’t need to worry as the app will search it by using its GPS location where the disconnection happened.

Step #1. Launch and log in to your Find My iPhone app on your iPhone.

Step #2. Once you see the list of iCloud enabled devices find for your AirPods and tap on them.

Step #3. Now, if you see your AirPods on a map encircled in gray color means they are not connected with your iPhone or iPad, and you have to locate on your own.

Step #4. If the place where your AirPods are located (or the location where you lost the connection with Bluetooth) is far from your current location then tap on ‘Actions’ and then tap on ‘Car icon’ and drive down to that location.

How to Play a Sound to locate AirPods on iPhone or iPad

Step #1. Follow first 2 steps given above.

Step #2. Now if you see your AirPods are encircled in Green color then that means they are still connected with your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth, and they are somewhere nearby.

Step #3. Tap on ‘Actions‘ button at the bottom of your screen and then tap ‘Play Sound.’

Step #4. The above step will prompt the app to play a high pitch sound on your AirPods, and till you don’t find them it will keep increasing the sound.

Step #5. When you find your AirPods tap on ‘Stop Playing’ button to stop the sound.

You can even mute either left or right AirPods, but then you must remember if the muted AirPod is lost then it will be highly difficult to find it.
