But, turning ON your Android device using a Double Tap is not available on every Android phone. Some phones need to use the ON/OFF button; some use the ON/OFF button along with a swipe and so on. But nothing is as easy as Double-tapping the phone to make it LIVE. So, this prompted me to jot down this article.
Now, you can activate this Double Tap feature to Wake up your phones in 2 different ways. One is by flashing custom kernel and the second one is by using any third-party Android app available on Google Play Store. It is but obvious that the later one is way easier than the first one. So, we’ll go with the same.
Now, there are thousands of applications available on Google Play Store that can help your Android phone with a Double Tap feature. Hence, we’ll be using one of the best apps, i.e., “Double Tap Screen On and Off.” Let’s check out how it works!
How to Use Double Tap to Wake Up or Turn OFF Android Screen?
Note: These steps have been tried out on the OnePlus 3 running Android Oreo 8.0 update.
Step #1. First off, Download Double Tap Screen On and Off app from Google Play Store.
Step #2. Open the app, here you’ll find many options like DoubleTap To Lock Enable, Double tap to Screen Off, Double tap to Screen On and many more.
Now, Turn ON the switch next to Double tap to Screen Off and Double tap to Screen On options.
Step #4. The app will ask for various permissions like “Permit usage access.” So, allow the app with the permission it needs. Finally, Double tap is now active.
Now, Go to Settings → Tap on Gestures →Turn On the switch next to Double tap to wake app.
Now, you can use Double Tap Screen Wake or Turn Off screen on your Android device.
Step #6. You can also set the number of taps to OFF the screen by choosing from the option Number of taps to Screen Off. By default, it is set to Triple taps.
