Reportedly, the WhatsApp payments feature is available on the version 2.18.21 on iOS and 2.18.44 on Android only for beta tester. WhatsApp has collaborated with SBI, ICICI, HDFC, Axis, and other Indian Banks to provide secure UPI payment platform to its more than 200 million monthly active users. Note: If you don’t see the new Payment option on your WhatsApp Messenger, then wait for 10/11th Feb because the company is rolling out this features slowly.

How to Setup WhatsApp Payments to Send and Receive Money on Android

If you haven’t registered for the beta, then go to the WhatsApp Beta sign up page to become an Android beta tester.

First of all, you will need to add your bank account, and then you can start making payment through UPI on WhatsApp Messenger. Here’s full procedure!

Step #1. Open the WhatsApp on your Android.

Step #2. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner of the app and select the Settings.

Step #3. Tap on new “Payments” option and then tap on “Accept and Continue.”

Step #4. Now verify your phone number via SMS.

Step #5. After verified, you will get a complete list of all Indian banks.

Select bank and account you want to add and then tap on your account. Finally, tap on Done.

Once your bank account linked to your WhatsApp account, you can easily start to send and request money on WhatsApp.

Step #6. Now go back to the WhatsApp conversation window and select the person you want to send money.

Step #7. Next, tap on attachment icon and select new Payment icon.

Step #8. Enter the amount, add a note and then tap on the Send button.

When you make your first payment, you will need to set a WhatsApp UPI PIN.

Step #9. Tap on “Enter UPI PIN” and select a 4-digit numeric UPI which you have to enter whenever you make payments.

Step #10. Finally, Tap on the right checkmark icon to get it done.

Note: If the recipient hasn’t set WhatsApp Payment his or her device, you won’t be to send or receive money through WhatsApp Messenger from your smartphone.

Step #1. Open the WhatsApp on your iPhone.

Step #2. Tap on Settings at the bottom right corner of the app.

Step #3. Next, tap on new “Payments” option and then “Add New Account.”

Step #4. Now tap on “Accept and Continue” and verify your phone number via SMS.

Step #5. After your number verified, you will get a complete list of all Indian banks. Select bank and account you want to add and hit the Done button.

Step #6. Now, follow from Step #6 as per the above Android procedure to send money thought WhatsApp.
