If you are running Android 4.0 or a later version of OS, then you will be able to use Find My Device app on your Android device. The supported user must follow the below instruction to setup Find My Device:

Step #1. Open Google Play Store.

Step #2. Search for Find My Device.

Step #3. Install Find My Device app, then open it and sign in with your Google Account you want to use on your device.

Step #4. Allow location access to the service.

Now your Android device is ready to track. In case, if you lost your device with some important data or your personal pictures that you do not wish to show someone else then you can easily track, delete or lock your Android device by following given procedure:

How to use Find My Device to locate your phone

Make sure that your device must be:

  • Turned on
  • Signed in to a Google Account
  • Connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi
  • Visible on Google Play
  • Location turned on
  • Find My Device turned on

Step #1. Go to the Find My Device website.

Step #2. Sign in to your Google Account (the account was used to set up Find My Device on your lost device)

Step #3. Once you are logged in, you will be able to see your device with current location along with remaining battery life and currently connected Wi-Fi network. You will also see three different option to track or protect your device through Find My Device app:

Play Sound: Play Sound is one of the best things on the Find My Device. Once you sing into the app to locate the device, you can tap on Play Sound to play a loud tune on your lost phone for five minutes. Even if your device in silent mode your phone will ring. You can press the power button to stop the sound.

Lock: The Lock option can be helpful to set a new password to unlock the Android phone. You can also send a message to your lost device’s screen and add a button to call you back by adding a contact number and then hit the Lock button. So anyone can find your device will be able to get in touch with you easily.

Erase: After going through all efforts, if you are sure that you won’t see the device in future. You still have a chance to protect your personal data by selecting Erase option. Choosing Erase will delete your all apps, images, music and settings from your lost device. If your device is switched off while selecting Erase button, then your device will follow the command when it will turn on.
