Considering the increasing trend of online payment methods, Google has released an update for Gmail App to send or request money. Now you can do money transactions from Gmail App and money will be debited or credited to user’s Google Wallet. Furthermore, you can even exchange Money with those who don’t have a Gmail address.
It seems that it will become a significant and popular tool soon like PayPal, Venmo or Square Cash. The best part of this feature is that it is free from both ends and that will be an added advantage over Venmo or Square Cash. As of now, this service is only available in the US and UK. If you are leaving outside these countries, then you will need to wait for a little bit longer. How to Send and Request Money from Friends and Family Using Android Gmail App
Note: You don’t have to install Google Wallet app, you can do the complete procedure right from the Gmail app. And, you should also keep in mind that if you send money to non-Google users, the recipients can configure it to get the amount directly into their bank accounts.
First off, Make sure that your Gmail’s Android app is updated and if it is not then updated it from Google Play Store.
Step #1. Launch the Gmail app and tap on the Compose button, which is on the bottom left corner of your screen.
Step #2. Write the Email Address of the person you want to send or request money.
Step #3. Now, tap on the attachment icon (paper clip) on the top right corner and from the drop-down menu select Send Money or Request Money.
Step #4. Enter the amount in dollars ($) as per your requirement and then tap on ‘Continue.’
Note: The payment will be made from your Google Wallet account and hence you need to have payment options set. If you have not added any card yet, then while doing the first transaction the app will ask to add a Debit Card, so tap on ‘Add Debit Card’ and fill up the required information and then tap on Save to continue.
Step #5. Add note regarding the nature of the payment.
Step #6. Tap on ‘Attach Money.’
Step #7. Tap on ‘Aeroplane icon’ to send or request the money.
Once the email is sent, both sender and receiver will get a confirmation email from Google Wallet with information like amount, payment mode, recipient, note and transaction ID.
Sending or requesting money from Gmail is just a new thing, so it will take some time to understand how easy or tough the procedure for the regular users. But, if you are a business person and using Gmail, then for sure you will be pleased to make payments through Google Mail App.
