Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge is awesome both in terms of design and performance. Finally, the South Korean company has hit the bull’s eye; delivering the goods with aplomb, hasn’t it?
Ever since I bought an all new Galaxy S7, I had been craving to customize it to my heart’s liking. Luckily, I was able to root my smartphone and personalize it in style. If you are also willing to root your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, head over the jump to get it done perfectly.
How to Root Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge

- This root method consists of some bugs.
- You don’t need to update the Superuser binaries, even if asked by the SuperSU app as the new binaries may not support this root method.
- You will have to perform a factory reset on your device.
- Make sure to back up your data.
- After rooting your device, Samsung Pay will stop working.
- This root method is compatible with all SD820 variants of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. We have tested it on AT&T and T-Mobile devices.
Requirements for the Root
- AT&T or T-Mobile Galaxy S7 or S7 edge (model numbers G930A, G935A, G903T, and G935T) with Snapdragon processor
- Windows PC
- USB data cable
You need to Download Files to Your PC
You have to download two files on your PC. While the first is an engineering boot image leaked from Samsung, the second is a modified version of Odin, the firmware flashing tool for Windows. Download the right engineering boot image for your particular model number.
- Download the engineering boot image for Galaxy S7 G930 models
- Download the engineering boot image for Galaxy S7 edge G935 models
- Download the modified version of Odin

Step #1. First up, power off your Galaxy. When the screen goes black, you have to press and hold the power, home, and volume down buttons at once.
You will be taken to Samsung’s “Download mode” menu. Now, you have to press the volume up button in order to verify your choice. Then, you will have to connect your device to your PC using USB data cable.
Step #2. On your PC, you need to extract the ModifiedODIN.zip file that you have just downloaded.
Next, right-click on the OdinPrinceComsy.exe file, then select “Run as administrator.”
Step #3. Now, you have to click on the “AP” button in the middle of the screen.
Step #4. Using the file browser menu, you need to select the G93xEngineeringBoot.tar file.
Wait for a few seconds until you see a message “Leave CS” in the Log tab. Then, click on the “Start” button at the bottom of the screen in order to flash the engineering boot image.
Your Android device will automatically reboot. Disconnect the USB data cable.
Step #5. Next, power off your device and when the screen turns black, you have to press and hold the home, power, and volume up buttons to enter recovery mode.
(If your device is stuck in a boot loop, press and hold the power and volume down buttons to reboot it. When the screen goes black, you need to press and hold the home, power, and volume up buttons to enter recovery mode.)
Up next, select the “Wipe data/factory reset” option using the volume button. Then, press the power button to select it.
Next, select “Yes” option and then go for the factory reset. Once you are done, you have to reboot your phone by choosing the “Reboot system now” option.
Step #6. After your device has rebooted, you will be greeted with Android’s initial setup guide. Log in with your Google account and go ahead with setup guide.
Step #7. Now, install ADB on your computer, then enable USB debugging on your phone. (Settings → About phone → Tap on build number repeatedly a few times → Developer option → USB debugging).
Connect your device to the computer again. You will get a message on your phone asking if you would like to allow access from this computer. You have to tick the box next to “Always allow” on this popup, then tap on “OK.”
Step #8. Now, you will have to download the files which will root your phone on your computer: Download the SuperSU root files.
Step #9. Next, you have to extract the contents of the ZIP, then copy them over to the platform-tools folder in your ADB installation directory.
Step #10. Up next, you need to hold down the shift button on your keyboard, then right-click on any empty space in this folder. Now, select “Open command window here.” Type root.bat into the command prompt, then press enter.
Once the process successfully gets completed, your phone will reboot automatically.
That’s it! Your Galaxy has been rebooted. If you want to verify this, you will have to Install Root Checker for free from the Google Play Store.
After you have installed the Root Checker on your device. Open it and tap on “Verify Root.” Tap on “Grant” when prompted to give the app Superuser access.
