How to Remove the Power Button from the Sign-in Screen of Windows 10

The latest Windows 10 has come up with extraordinary features and it is making the users happy most of the time. The best part of the Windows 10 is that it allows multiple users to use the system the way they want to by keeping their privacy intact. Just like the previous editions of Windows, Windows 10 to have the access to Shut Down or Sign Out from the system, just in case you need to close the system after your work is completed. When there are multiple users using the same system, they can access the power button situated at the bottom right end of your Sign-in screen once their work is done on your system. Caution: Before using these steps you must be reminded that editing the registry is highly risky and it can cause irrevocable damage to your system if you don’t do this procedure in the correct way. So it is advisable to take a full backup of your system data before proceeding to the steps given below.

Step #1. Use the Windows Key + R to open the Run command.

Step #2. Type “regedit” and click OK, which will open the registry.

Step #3. Browse the following key.


Step #4. Double click on the shutdownwithoutlogon DWORD and change its value from 1 to 0 and click OK.

Note: If there is no DWORD found then you may have to create it by following the steps given below.

  • Right click the System folder key and select New.
  • Click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name the key shutdownwithoutlogon and press Enter key.
  • Double click on shutdownwithoutlogon and set the value at 0

Step #5. Close Registry and Restart your computer to complete the task.

Once this is done the Power button will be removed from your Sign-in screen of the Windows 10 enabled system or when you lock your device. This will help you to prevent the unsaved data from being washed away.
