FYI: I have used my OnePlus 3 smartphone running Android Oreo 8.0 to play this Octopus Easter egg game.
Step #1. First off, launch Settings app on your Android phone.
Step #2. Scroll down and tap on About phone.
Some devices have this option in Settings → System → About phone.
Step #3. Locate Android version option.
Here, you are not supposed to tap once, but at least for four to five times until you see a circle on the screen. Note that the color of the ring may differ as per the device. On my OnePlus 3, I found the circle as mentioned in the screenshot below.
Step #4. Again you need to quickly tap on that circle for four to five times and then press and hold it.
Your phone vibrates, and then you can see that octopus on your phone’s screen.
You can now drag that creature and move it on the screen with your finger. Hold it from its head and not the tentacles.
How to get rid of the Octopus and enable home screen on Android Oreo device
You have spent enough time with your friend, and now you want to use your phone? But how to hide that octopus? Will it stay there for eternity? No friends. You can quickly get rid of that octopus and go to your phone’s home screen. Tap or press the Home button on your phone, and you will be landed on the home screen.
