Do you know that you can make a conference call on your iPhone? It would be enormously helpful especially when you are away from your office and wish to hold a quick conversation with multiple people at once.
The Phone app allows you to call up to five people simultaneously. You can easily remove any participant during the conference call. And if you wish to talk privately to any person, there is an option to do that as well. Let’s swim across to know how to make a conference call on iPhone:
How to Make a Conference Call on Your iPhone
Note: The conference calling features might vary on some cellular networks.
Step #1. First off, launch Phone app on your iPhone. Then, you need to call one of the participants.
Step #2. It would be better to tell the first that you are going to add more people to call as his/her call will be put on hold while you place the second call. Next, tap on “Add Call” button.
Step #3. Now, you have to either dial the second person’s number or select it from your contacts.
When the second person answers the call, the screen will show the first call on hold and the second call be active right below it.
Step #4. Next up, you have to tap the “Merge Calls” button.
That’s it! The conference call has started off involving you and two other people.
If you want to add more people, simply tap on Add Call and dial the person you want to include. In the end, tap on Merge Calls.
As mentioned above, you are allowed to call up to five people at once.
Just in case, you get an incoming call during the conference call, make sure to tap on the “Hold & Accept” button.
The existing call will be put on hold, and you will be able to answer the call. Again, if you want to include the person in your current call, just tap on “Merge Calls.”
Make sure not to tap on “End & Accept” otherwise the current call will be disconnected.
Just in case you wish to talk to the person immediately, tap on “Send to Voicemail.”
How to Remove Participants and Talk Privately During Conference Call on iPhone
Step #1. Assuming the conference call is still on, tap the blue “i” button at the upper right corner of the screen in order to check out the list of the participants in the call.
Step #2. Tap on the “End” button next to the participant you want to remove from the call.
Step #3. If you want to talk privately with someone, just tap on the “Private” button.
Now, other participants will be put on hold, and you can talk privately with that person.
Once your private conversation is finished, tap “Merge Calls” to start talking with all the participants.
One thing you need to know that the private button might not be available on all the cellular networks. It depends on the cellular carrier, and the type of network is available in your area.
If it’s not available on your cellular network, it will be grayed out.
What if you want to mute yourself during the call and wish to pay full attention to what other participants are saying?
If you want mute yourself while the conference call is on, just tap on “Mute” button. Now, you can peacefully hear other people. However, they won’t be able to hear your call. To unmute yourself, tap on “Mute” button again.
Want to continue to use other apps while still on a conference call?
If you wish to use other apps while still on the call, tap on the Speaker button. Then, press the Home button to leave the screen. Now, launch the app you wish to use.
If you ever want to return to the call, tap on the green “Touch to return to call” bar which will be displayed on the top of your screen.
In the end, tap on the red “Hang Up” button to end the call.
The Bottom Line:
The conference calling feature has existed for a long time on iPhone. I find it immensely user-friendly. Whenever I have to communicate multiple people at one go, I don’t fail to use this neat feature. What’s your take on it? Shoot your valuable feedback in the comments.
