While the official OTA update in on the way, but you can use XiaomiFlash tools to install MIUI 9 beta on your Note 4X or MI 6 device. As I said that the update is only available for China ROM, so the Google apps and services will not be available in this ROM because of a Governmental ban on Google in China. Step #1. First off, Install the MIFlash Tool on your computer. For easy access, copy the ROM file of your Xiaomi device on your desktop.
Step #2. Enable USB Debugging by heading to Settings → Additional Settings → Developer Option and turn it ON. If you are seeing that option then you need to go to the About Phone section and tap on MIUI Version about 7-10 times until it says “You are now a developer”.
Step #3. Next up, you need to reboot your Xiaomi device into fastboot mode. To do that, switch off your device and hold down both the power button and the volume down button to reboot it to the fastboot mode.
Step #4. Connect your Xiaomi device to your computer using USB cable while the device in foot mode.
Step #5. Next, extract the ROM file that you have copied on a desktop and copy the path from the address bar of the folder.
Step #6. Open MI Flash Tool and paste the path you have copied.
Step #7. Now. Click on the Refresh button next to the path and then your Xiaomi device will appear below which means your device is ready to get the update.
Here, you will also get three different options – “clean all”, “save user data”, and “clean all and lock” at the bottom-right corner. You can select “clean all” option to format your entire storage, select “save user data” to just erase system partition and select “clean all and lock” to format the storage, remove all the data, and lock the bootloader.
Step #8. To start the installation process, just click on Flash button next to Refresh.
Once the installation process finishes, you can see your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X and MI 6 which will have new MIUI 9 beta.
