Today, here we share three methods to solve Windows is not a Genuine error- uninstalling update KB971033, Use SLMGR -REARM command and using RSOP. These methods will only work for 32 bit and 64-bit operating system

Solutions 1: Uninstall update KB971033

The normal Windows update settings set as automatic download and install updates. When Microsoft releases new updates, such updates may also negatively influence on your Windows system. This copy of Windows is not genuine error is also a result of an update that has detected your Windows OS. If you see the KB971033 in the installed updates, then you must follow below steps:

Step #1. Open control panel from the start menu.

Step #2. Click on System & Security.

Step #3. Click on Windows Updates and then click on Installed Updates option on the left bottom side of the screen.

Step #4. Look for KB971033 update and uninstall it by right click on it.

Step #5. Now, restart your PC.

If you do not see the KB971033 update, then you can skip this steps and go to another method.

Solution 2: Use SLMGR -REARM command.

Step #1. Go to start menu and search for cmd or command prompt.

Step#2. Next, type SLMGR –REARM on command prompt and press enter key.

Step#3. Now you will get restart message, click on Ok to restart your PC.

Now you will not face the error again in future. If somehow this command didn’t work for you, then you have to try SLMGR /REARM.

Most of the time the SLMGR –REARM command works, but sometimes you may get two error-“The maximum allowed number of rearms has been exceeded, ’ and ‘SLMGR’ is not recognized as an internal or external command.’

  • Open the start menu and search “Run” to open as administrator.
  • Next, type “regedit.exe” and enter.
  • Navigate this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE → Software → Microsoft → WindowsNT → Current version → SoftwareProtectionPlatform.
  • Look for SkipRearm file and modify it from 0 to 1.
  • Now, restart your PC and try above process again.

‘SLMGR’ is not recognized as an internal or external command’ fix is here:

  • Go to My Computer.
  • Open local C drive.
  • Select Windows and look for a system32 file.
  • Open a system32 file and Scroll down until “slmgr.vbs.REMOVEWAT”.
  • Now, right-click on it and rename it to “slmgr.vbs.”

If you do not file any REMOVEWAT extension, then look for another file with the slmgr.vbs extension and remove it.

Solution 3: Using RSOP

RSOP is also known as Resultant Set of Policy. Follow these steps to get rid of this error using RSOP:

Step #1. Open Run by Pressing Windows button + R from your keyboard.

Step #2. Next, type rsop.msc and press Enter key.

Step #3. Navigate to Windows Settings → Security Settings → System services.

Step #4. Now, open the System Service folder and look for Plug and Play

Step #5. Right click on Plug and Play and on Startup check click on Automatic

Step #6. Again open Run by pressing Windows + R key

Step #7. Type gpupdate /force command and enter

Step #8. Restart your PC

Now you won’t see the error again on your computer.
