Twitter is one of the most adored apps in the world with over 400 million active users. The micro-blogging app has been ideally designed to keep you at pace with what’s happening around the world.

Though there are several features such as, Night Mode which I like a lot in Twitter, “Direct Message” appeals me the most. From letting you send cool GIFs, funny emojis to photos or videos, DM is fabulous in letting you communicate with your friends or followers.

The news app has been updated to add Read Receipts which lets you know when the receiver has seen your message. If you have used the Stock Messages app for iOS and WhatsApp, you must be aware of its functionality.

What if you don’t want to let others know when you have read their message? You have the option to disable Read Receipts.

How to Turn off Read Receipts in Twitter on iPhone/iPad

  • Read Receipts is enabled by default.
  • Once your message has been read by the receiver, you will see a tick mark next to the sent message.
  • After you have disabled it, you won’t see Read Receipts from other people.

Step #1. Starting off, you need to open Twitter on your iPhone.

Step #2. Tap on Me tab at the bottom right corner.

Step #3. Next, tap on gear icon located next to your profile picture.

Step #4. You should see a menu from the bottom. Tap on Settings.

Step #5. Tap on Privacy and safety.

Step #6. In the end, you have to turn off the switch next to Send/Receive read receipts.

That’s it!

If you change your mind later, you can re-enable read receipts, simply by following all the steps mentioned above then toggling on the switch in the end.
