How to Fix Google Maps voice navigation not working issue on Android
Solution #1. Check your device’s volume
While using Google Maps to get voice navigation and if you suddenly realize that you cannot hear any sound at all, then maybe you have set less volume or muted your device. So, make it sure that your device’s volume is up and not muted.
Solution #2. Make sure that Google Maps sound is unmuted
Once you have started the navigation and the Google Maps won’t talk then the first thing you should check that Google Maps sound is not muted. Here’s how to check it!
Step #1. Launch Google Maps App on your Android phone.
Step #3. Once the navigation started, you will see the Sound icon on the right side of the screen. If it shows a mute sound icon then just tap on it and select the unmute sound icon to enable voice navigation in Android.
There are three types of voice level-Louder, Normal, and Softer available in the Google Maps. If the Google Maps stop speaking on your Android, then open Google Maps and go to the Menu and then Settings → Navigation settings → Voice level and select “Lounder”.
Whether you have connected your phone with your car speaker or any other connected Bluetooth speaker, you should turn on “Play voice over Bluetooth” and “Play voice during phone calls” get navigation sound while you are on call. Here’s how to do it!
Step #1. Open Google Maps App on your Android phone.
Step #2. Tap the Menu icon at the top right corner and scroll down to setting and tap on it.
Step #3. Now tap on Navigation Settings.
Step #4. From here, turn the toggle on next “Play voice over Bluetooth” and “Play voice during phone calls.”
Tried above mentioned four methods and it didn’t work? Then here we suggest you install the Google Maps updates and then again get the latest update to work Google Maps voice properly. To do that, go to Settings → Apps → All Apps→ Google Maps → Tap the dots at the top right corner and select Uninstall updates.
Once the update uninstalled successfully, go to the Google Play Store → Menu (by tapping the hamburger icon at top right corner) → My apps & games → Now scroll to the Google Maps and Update it. If it didn’t work, then you can do the same for Google Play Service.
