Thanks to some smart features like Cortana, annotation tools, and reading mode, Microsoft Edge is considered to be a competent web browser in Windows. With a layout engine built around web standards, it has been designed to be lightweight and runs pretty smoothly.
Microsoft Edge has a feature called “Tab Previews” which offers a thumbnail glimpse of the current page when you hover your mouse over a tab. It can be useful if you have multiple tabs opened. However, at times it can be annoying particularly when the tab preview for the left-most tab obscures Edge’s forward and back buttons.
Though there is no built-in setting to turn tab previews off, you can disable it with a simple change in the Registry. Let’s dive ahead to find out how it works!
How to Disable Tab Previews In Microsoft Edge on Windows 10?
Step #1. Press “Windows Key + R” to Run dialog box. Type “regedit” and hit the “Enter” button to open Registry Editor. A dialog box will appear asking for the permission to open registry editor. Allow it to make the changes on the PC.
Step #2. Next, you will have to navigate to the following location in a registry editor.
Step #3. Up next, you will need to create and name a new value inside the TabbedBrowsing key. Simply right-click the TabbedBrowsing folder and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Step #4. Now, you have to name the new value TabPeekEnabled and then double-click the value to open its properties window.
Step #5. In the value’s properties window, you need to enter “0” in the “Value data” box. Then, click on OK.
Step #6. If “Microsoft Edge” is open, you have to close and open it again.
