From playing Audiobooks to managing flights, now you can do almost everything with the Google Home smart speaker using lots of voice commands. And today, we are going to share one more worthy thing about the device is that you can also ask Google Home to show the weather on your Chromecast enable TV. Sounds great? Isn’t it?
It seems like Google is continuously making efforts to stand at peak compare to other smarts speakers such are Amazon Echo and Apple’s new HomePod. Previously, you have been able to play Netflix shows and movies on TV via Google Home, but now Google has stretched out its function to show some related useful information on your Chromecast-connected TV according to your queries. As for now, you can only get weather updates on Chromecast using Google Home. Let’s know how to do it now!
Ask Google Home to Get the Weather Updates on Chromecast enable TV
Note: Currently, this function is not supported on 1st Gen Chromecast and Android TVs. Before moving ahead, make it sure that your Google Home and Chromecast are turned on and connect to the same Wi-Fi network.
Considering you have already set up Google Home, here is the full straightforward process. Well, if you haven’t linked Chromecast with Google Home, then you will need to do it first.
How to link Chromecast and Ask Google Home to display weather update on TV
Step #1. Open the Google Home app on your phone.
Step #2. At the top left corner of the Home screen, tap Menu with three hamburger icon.
Step #3. Make sure you Google Account listed is the one linked to Google Home.
Step #4. Tap More settings → TVs and Speakers, and then you’ll see a list of linked devices.
Step #5. Tap on “Add” at the bottom right corner of the screen to link a new Chromecast device.
Step #6. Now Google Home app will search for a Chromecast device on the same Wi-Fi network as Google Home. Once it found, tap the Check next to the name and then Add.
Step #7. Once the new Chromecast has been added, you can change the Chromecast name by tapping the three dots on the card → Settings → Name and change it as per your preference.
Step #8. After that, you will need to ask Google Home to show the weather information on Chromecast-enabled TV.
Now you can use following commands to get the weather on Chromecast via Google Home:
- “Ok Google, show me the weather on my TV.”
- “Ok Google, show me the weather.”
- “Ok Google, show me the weather on my living room TV.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather for tomorrow.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather for Saturday.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather this weekend.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather for the next 3 days.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in New York.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in London tomorrow.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in Amsterdam on Saturday.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in Spain this weekend.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in Paris for the next 3 days.”
- “Ok Google, Show me the weather in Celsius.”
Once you ask Google Home to show weather info using above command, it will show you full weather information on your connected Chromecast device with the current temperature along with a forecast for a few days and more.
Currently, only US people can use this feature on their Google Home. No news where it will go live in other countries. Hope we will see the more cast-compatible functions in future.
