Apple has officially revealed the HomePod speaker at the WWDC 2017 at San Jose. As we expected, the new Siri smart speaker named “HomePod” is finally launched to give the tough fight to Amazon’s Echo and Google Home.
Tim Cook’s first word while launching the HomePod that “one LAST thing“, a new take on “one more thing“. The new HomePod smart speaker is the 7-inch tall hardware device with six microphones. It has Apple A8 chip same as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and there’s 4-inch upward-facing woofer.

The device has “spatial awareness” feature which changes the sounds automatically to the space that the speaker is located. You can quickly set up your AirPods with the speaker with the help of iPhone. You can also use the two HomePod at one place. It also compatible with AirPlay 2, so you can select the smart speaker with muti-room audio around your house.
The HomePod have the seven-speaker array of the tweeter on the bottom. You can do amazing things with HomePod such as playing Music, News, Translation, Stocks, Traffic, Sports, Home, Podcasts, Reminders, Messages, Timers, General Knowledge, and more. It also works with HomeKit and all the stuff you’ve set up in HomeKit. You can control your HomeKit devices when you’re out with your iPhone the HomePod acts as a HomeKit bridge. It shows a Siri-rescue waveform on top of the device.
Apple highlighted audio quality with this smart speaker. It has a feature to automatically tunes the audio to the space you’re in. HomePod can also automatically detects the size and dimensions of the room. Apple says three important things about the speaker that “It needs to rock the house”, “built-in musicologist.” and “spatial awareness”.
HomePod also provides higher security while using. The device will only listen to you when you say “Ok Bono”. The information won’t sent to the Apple until after the command heard. All information is sent is “encrypted and sent using an anonymous Siri identifier.”
For comparison, a Sonos Play: 1 costs $200 and integrates with dozens of music services. But it has no microphone or Alexa-like skills. But, the HomePod will cost you $349 comes in White and Space Gray color and start shipping in the US, UK, and AUS in December.
