There have been plenty of rumors about next iPhone, the iPhone 8 till date. One such rumor is that just like Galaxy S8 or Xiaomi Mi Mix, iPhone too will have an edgeless display. One rumor was that iPhone will have a wireless charging. But the matter of fact is that no one cared about the main body of the next iPhone, and today we have learned one such rumor about iPhone 8.

According to a Taiwanese source, Apple has placed orders for forged stainless steel casings from Jabil and it will not be going to use Foxconn as its supplier for the body of iPhone 8. Foxconn was till now was the supplier for aluminum cases made for iPhones. This move may come as a surprise to many, but this is not the first time Apple has decided to go for the stainless steel body for its product as iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S already had that material. However iPhone 4 Apple preferred CNC machining which is a different forging altogether.

The same source has also described the reason behind going for stainless steel forging this time then the CNC machining. Forging will squeeze a metal alloy between two halves of a mold which will give a good finishing on casing. Such components are having greater structural stiffness than CNC machining can provide.

Another rumor also suggests that Apple iPhone 8 will shed few millimeters from the current body of an iPhone and here too the stainless steel forging will come as a great help. The stainless steel will also help Apple to give iPhone 8 its all screen design.
